Cave(d)In: A night in The most romantic setting
So, let’s get into this Cave dinner. Hence the title play “caved din.” Oh my goodness! People say all the time (you’d have to be there to really enjoy it, or to really see the beauty). I won’t lie, for this experience, it’s so true! We discussed how many real candles were probably lit throughout the cave, but the way my personality is set up, I had to count every one 🙃. If I recall correctly it was around 152. When I tell you this is top 3, if not the top of the absolute most romantic experiences I’ve ever had. I think Jeremy would agree.
So to set the tone. You walk down a winding natural stone staircase of about 30 steps. Very carefully I may add, in true fashion I had on four inch heels. As you descend, you are right on the cusp of the Caribbean ocean. It’s night time and not brightly lit, so the sound of the waves guide you closer to the destination. Once you reach the bottom, you turn the corner and your view transitions from low visibility to a beautiful, illuminating glow of candles inside of a natural cave! As I entered the cave I thought to myself simply, WOW. Easily the most beautiful setting I’ve ever had the pleasure of entering. The cave is mysterious and intriguing, yet so romantic. ( see the video at the very bottom of this post)
We saw lots of what we thought initially were bats flying in and out close by, but not into the cave with us. Come to find out they were actually Golden swallow birds. We had a private butler for the evening and he was so delightful. Jeremy pre-selected a special dinner menu, however he still shared the other options with us, which sounded just as great. We had a long active day, so we definitely indulged.
In addition to other traditional starters such as fresh warm bread, salad, etc. We started with a coconut cream-based seafood soup. All you need to know is that it was ah-mazing and I definitely asked for the recipe ( I love to cook). I had the lobster and Jeremy had the steak, lamb and lobster. So fresh, savory and seasoned to perfection. As for the libations, we tried a new Pinot Noir for the night that was very good. I will definitely find this brand and start drinking it in the states. We also had one of his likes, but my absolute favorite with us, Dusse. Our waiter had never tried Dusse or even heard of it. We gave him a cocktail and he loved it. He shared some gems with us that night and we put him on something new. Trade!
We spent the rest of night just talking and reflecting on all of God‘s beauty that we were surrounded in. The fact that we were able to have a five course meal just steps away from the Caribbean Sea, underneath the deepest blue skies, inside of a romantically illuminated natural cave was just amazing. We are blessed. This is where life Meets Living.
