It’s time to use up that PTO you’ve been saving.
Saint Lucia is regarded by many as the most beautiful island in the Caribbean. It has everything, electric blue waters, sandy beaches, waterfalls, and lush tropical greenery. Did I forget to mention the towering and majestic Piton Mountains? These volcanic mountains shoot up from the sea, creating an unbelievably picturesque background that can instantly turn anyone into a great photographer. The island’s culture is comprised of East Indian, English, French, and African heritage. This provides a great atmosphere for just about any music lover and foodie. The island covers all bases from romance to adventure.
What holds many travelers from visiting Saint Lucia is the cost. Compared to other options in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia can be a little more expensive. For this reason, many travelers choose destinations like the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Mexico when they long for sandy beaches, blue water, and a change of pace. Okay, Okay, Okay, I’m speaking for myself, but I know others feel the same way we do. That’s why I think that this year will be our first trip to Saint Lucia.
I’ve been doing my own research on the area, and trying to decide where to stay. While I was creating my own list of hotels/resorts I decided that I’d share my list with you all, and also explain why this could be your best opportunity to visit the island if you lust for luxury on a budget.

Now that I’ve listed 5 of the resorts/hotels that are tops on my list, let’s discuss why this is the time to travel to Saint Lucia. While this is summer time to many people in the states. June – November mark the rainy season in Saint Lucia. Although the island is located on the hurricane belt the likelihood that a hurricane hits is very slim for Saint Lucia due to its location. Only 14 hurricanes have moved within 60 miles of the area since 1850. Combine that with a little travel insurance, and I’d say your chances of enjoying your vacation are pretty good. At this point you’re probably saying, “what about all of the rain?”. It’s the Caribbean, it rains. You’ll live. During the wet season Saint Lucia experiences about 20 days of rain per month, but don’t expect for it to rain all day long. The great thing is, it rains once or twice throughout the day and then it is quickly absorbed by the land.
Hotels and Resorts in the area have recognized that the rainy season slows down tourism of the island. They adapted, and some major players are offering up to 60% off general prices. The heavy discounts mean you could save hundreds or thousands of dollars on you stay. This gives you the opportunity to stay at some over the top properties and remain within your vacation budget.
I recently completed the Saint Lucia Expert program because we are planning to visit ASAP. By completing this program, we now have direct access to Saint Lucia’s tourism contacts. They provided us a list of properties that are offering special discounted prices for any travelers looking to vacation during the wet season. If you have any interest in booking please contact us.
